DUCJC2015 Project #7

DUCJC2015 #7:

Started Jan. 7, 2015

Here is a Mill Hill Kit for my 7th day! I got all the beading done on it, and just need to back it with paper, add the red sled pull, and make a hanger and it will be done. I was feeling better with my cold. It felt good to almost completely finish something.

I did pick up the Snow Bear Sled kit from the previous night, and that is when I caught my mistake on the griding! Like I said though it's going to be fine in the end. I still have to frog the star and the crown (in yellow) as part of my griding mistake but that isn't to bad. Here is an updated picture from last night:

DUCJC2015 Project #6

DUCJC2015 #6:

Started Jan 6, 2015

This was my start for the 6th day. I saw someone do this kit on a Facebook group and fell in love with the whimsical aspect of it! I gridded it out and with me being sick I made a slight mistake that I caught last night when I picked it back up to work on it some, but I really didn't want to rip out the stitches I already put in (still had to do some minor ripping). I will still have about an inch to an inch and a half left on the left side for whatever I will do with it - probably frame it or make it into a pillow :) It is on light blue aida, and I don't like that it is so stiff though!

DUCJC2015 Project #5

DUCJC2015 #5:

Started Jan 5, 2015.

After getting out at the ER at about 3 am early Monday morning and getting some rest, I was able to stitch just a little on this new start later that evening. I have had this one kitted up for awhile and had been looking forward to it, but with me being sick I wasn't enjoying it as much as I thought I would.

At this point I was really starting to question my sanity on doing all these new starts, but decided to keep at it until I got better. In the last 2 years my stitching of projects has shifted from what it use to be. I use to love to start new projects and not finish very many, but in the last 2 yrs I tend to work mainly, but not exclusively on one project. I will work on a good size project, but take little breaks in between on much smaller ones and finish the small (hence where my stash of Mill Hill kits come into play), and then work back on the bigger project till it's done. So with all these new starts (plus me being so sick) was freaking me out a little! But I am going to at least stick with 31 new starts. I had initially planned on the 59, but that may be a bit much! I will see how I feel when it gets closer to the 31st :)

DUCJC2015 Project #4

DUCJC2015 #4:

Started Jan. 4, 2015. I was really really really sick on this day, so much so that by midnight that night I had my son take me to the ER! I was so bad that upon first examine the doctor was sure I had the flu, but it came back negative, so he said I had a severe cold! So severe that a doc thought it was flu at first, so I was feeling really bad that day, and hence why I am updating my blog all at once up until this point.

I was surprised I managed this much, but I was really enjoying stitching this one. If I can get back to it I think I could get this one done in a few more days! I have really been into a hummingbird mood lately :)

DUCJC2015 Project #3

DUCJC2015 #3:

Started Jan. 3, 2015 This is a Wizzers Sam the Snow Seller kit, and I was feeling worse by the days so this is as far as I got. This one is going to be super when finished. It is done on plastic canvas. I think I will use it as a Christmas tree ornie :)

DUCJC2015 Project #2

Here is #2 in DUCJC2015:

Started Jan. 2, 2015 A Mill Hill Sleigh kit. I woke up sick with a bad chest cold, so I wasn't feeling to good, and managed to get this far.

DUCJC2015 Project #1 and New Year New Start SAL

Hello Everyone :) I am going to be doing several blog posts to get caught up on all the new starts for DUCJC2015 = Debbie's Ultimate Crazy January Challenge 2015 which means you can start either 31 projects for the month of January OR 59 projects for the month of January and February! I thought about doing the 59, but I think I will stick with 31 New Starts! I will wait until the 31st gets closer and take it from there. I included this project in with a New Year New Start SAL also.

Here is #1 for the DUCJC2015 started Jan. 1st, 2015:

This is going to be beautiful - at least in my opinion - when it's all stitched, but this kit gave me a fit! I had a time with it, and spent about 3 hours getting it ready. I have never had a kit give me such trouble as this one did!

First off when I was zigzaging the edges of the fabric I noticed a really bad spot in the weave of the fabric, so i thought I was going to have to replace the fabric, but decided to count it off knowing that some companies leave quite a bit of extra fabric around the project. So yep, I was able to salvage enough of the fabric to make it work while still leaving ample fabric around the edge. Then I looked at the chart thinking since the floss was already carded I would be ready to stitch, but nooooo! LOL! They had the floss onto card "A" and "B" and just the name of the identifying floss and the DMC numbers. Anyhow it's hard to explain, but I had to go look up all the DMC names and try and match them up to what they had in the kit. So by the time I got all this done, I had 10 minutes to stitch for Jan. 1st at 11:50 pm!
